Received the B.Eng degree in electrical engineering and B.Sc degree in information technology from the Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg, in 2002. In 2005, obtained the M.Eng degree in electrical engineering from the University of Johannesburg. Obtained D.Eng degree in electrical engineering from University of Johannesburg in 2010. His primary research interest is optical communications for implementation in the telecommunications industry. Has been working in the telecommunications industry since 2008, with previous employers being Telkom SA & the NMISA. Currently working at MTN SA as Electrical Engineer, with main responsibilities that includes planning & optimisation of cellphone towers in northern region of South Africa.
