With the rapid development of urbanization, the "assimilation" of urban landscape design has become more and more prominent. From the vertical design, these landscape designs have abandoned and separated from the history and culture of city. From the horizontal design, the urban landscape with the characteristic of region and personality is gradually disappearing, which makes it lose the most valuable features as well as its connotation, particularly in ethnic group areas. This article takes specific city road design for example: ethnic autonomous prefecture of Yunnan province. It proceeds from the crisis of the lack of local regional cultural characteristics faced by the city. This paper starts with the combination of urban road landscape design, regional culture and the expression method. Through the practice of Wolong road design in Wenshan distric, this paper discussed in the urban road landscape design. Based the results of the study, we believed that urban culture and the new contradictions in the development of urban modernization are the problems that every city builder and designer should seriously consider.
