Profile Summary

Kamil Boratay ALICI was born in Sivas, Turkey, on January 12, 1981. He has 16 years of scientific research experience in mathematical, computational and experimental methods of physics and electrical engineering. His research interests lie in the domains of Optics and Photonics, Nanotechnology, and Electromagnetics disciplines. He has been contributing to the scientific literature by writing scientific papers, book chapters and conference papers; by presenting research results in conferences, workshops, and panels; by reviewing manuscripts and research proposals; and by performing member tasks of various scientific societies. He has co-authored 34 science citation index papers that are published in prestigious journals such as Physical Review Letters, Applied Physics Letters, IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques, and Nano Letters; has reviewed more than 100 manuscripts, and has been cited 2000 times with an h-index of 19. He has been selected for recognition of his high quality work and awarded with Certificate of Reviewing Excellence by ELSEVIER and his service as a reviewer is appreciated and certified by the SPIE.

For a decade, his main research interest was the response of passive, linear, periodically structured materials to electromagnetic waves and its applications in energy, communications and health industries. He has introduced optically thin broadband near infrared absorbers/emitters, electrically small RF and optical antennas, ultrathin microwave absorbers, negative index materials and superlenses at millimeter wave band, negative refraction in photonic crystals, hybrid sensing platforms for biomolecules, nanophotonic properties of graphene; cost-effective, high efficiency a-Si based solar cells incorporated with spectral energy up-converters, and he has contributed to SiC-based compact particle accelerator/detector project. For the recent 5 years, he is mainly interested in system design and image quality simulation of Earth Observation Satellites.
