The Ball Lens
Abstract
10.1 Introduction A ball lens is an interesting optical element worth a closer look. Figure 10.1 indicates the optical behaviour of such a lens. It can be seen that the principal planes fall together and are located at the center of the sphere. For the aberrations, we only consider here the case where the object is located at infinity. Some remarks will be made for other situations.
