Abstract
Power by light has been previously demonstrated with photodetectors whose open circuit voltage. V was approximately 1 volt and where the remote system voltage requirements were 1 to 2 volts. This paper explores the power by light cases where Voc is about 0.5 volt (e.g., silicon) and where the voltage requirement is about 5 volts (e.g.. TTL or ECL compatibility). A hybrid power by light/DC-DC converter power supply is proposed for these cases and its performance is compared with the all optical power by light power supply.
