Abstract
History of bent crystal applications for steering high energy particles is outlined, from the prediction of the phenomenon to the first bending experiments and crystal beam extraction demonstrations. Monte Carlo calculations of crystal halo scrapers in colliders were performed and parameters of such scrapers were optimized.
