Abstract
In this paper we present a multi-modal multi-sensor fusion algorithm for the detection of personnel. The unattended ground sensors employed consist of acoustic, seismic, passive infrared (PIR) and video camera. The individual sensor data is processed and the probabilities of detection of a person are estimated. Then, the individual probability estimates are fused to estimate the overall probability of detection of a person. The confidence levels of each sensor modality are estimated based on a large set of data. The performance of the algorithm is tested on data collected in an unoccupied basement of a building with single and multiple people present.
