Abstract
A new type of white-light-interferometric (WLI) fiber optic sensor is proposed. Three cascaded interferometers enable differential measurement. Two interferometers among the three are used for sensing. The other is for processing, which converts the imbalance of optical path difference (OPD) between the two sensing interferometers into differential displacement. This unique three-cascaded WLI sensor system is described in detail with some experimental results.
