Abstract
We demonstrate experimentally a threefold increase in the best resolution ever reported in distributed measurements of chromatic dispersion along single-mode optical fibres. Our method is based on probing the four-wave mixing efficiency along the fiber using Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis. We achieve record resolutions of 60 m in a 1.5 km standard fibre and 150 m in a 6.7 km dispersion shifted fibre, respectively.
