Abstract
Parallel (PIC) and successive (SIC) interference cancellations are very effective, while with relatively low computational complexity among existing multiuser detection (MUD) methods. However, SIC is likely impractical for real-time applications, and PIC has a requirement of stringent power control. This paper proposes an adaptive scheme of linear hybrid interference cancellation (AHIC) for CDMA systems. This algorithm combines the advantages of PIC and SIC by the use of adaptive configuration to combat the fading effects of mobile channels. Simulations are conducted for comparison between AHIC and existing SIC and PIC schemes in terms of computational complexity, time delay, and average bit-error rate (BER) performance in Rayleigh-fading channels. It is suggested that the proposed AHIC may achieve a low BER, short delay, and acceptable computational complexity.
