Abstract
The roles that rotational nonequilibrium, mixing and the optical resonator play in determining the power speciral perfonnance ofthe cw HF laser are reviewed. Experiments and analyses that led to an understanding of these elements ate summarized. The factors that influence the overtone perfomiance of the HF laser are reviewed. The line selected pthbrmance is related to multiline perfmnance.
