Abstract
A 7-pass, master oscillator and power amplifier CO2 laser system is reported using planar waveguide structures. An acoustooptic modulator between oscillator and amplifier is shown to introduce thermal lens effects that modify the mode-matching. Amplification ofpulse bursts at 50 kHz in cw gain is presented, and gain saturation and recovery effects are demonstrated to pulses at a modulation rate up to ~55O kHz.
