Abstract

The Episiotomy is the most frequent Obstetric operation and is performed in the course of delivery by almost all women. Its healing is often accompanied by complications. It is veiy often infected, what brings about its dehiscence and following functionally unsuitable healing, which necessilates a reoperation.In the by us followed group were 624 women. We used wavelength 660 nm of polarised ugh .t. . We commenced the therapy early on delivery day or one thy after and continued all time ofhospitalisation. The therapy has been applicated one times daily in the duration of 5 minutes by the continual regime of light source. The average number of application was 4.36 on one patient. In the followed group we noted complications (extended time of healing) only by four mothers, what is by 0.64 %, while in the control group (women not treated with the polarised light) complications occurred by 10.2 %. The difference is highly statistically significant, which gives evidence for successful application ofpolarised light after episiotomy.
