Abstract
Cellular automata have long been known for their self- organizational properties. In contrast to physical system, even starting with complete randomness, a cellular automata system can eventually reach an organized state. Recently cellular automata have been applied in image analysis to identify damage in large structures. In this paper it is shown how cellular automata can be implemented in parallel and used to analyze and identify flaws and defects.
