Abstract
The role of laser beam parameters and material properties in establishing a stable deep welding process is investigated, experimentally and theoretically. Particular emphasis is placed on the mechanisms involved in the energy coupling. It is shown that high quality welds are achieved by a proper choice of parameters and a sophisticated process conduction.
