Abstract
This paper describes the airborne on-board local area network (LAN) architectures and technologies for implementation of advanced aircraft multimedia information distribution networks. The avionics functional requirements for multimedia transmission are described. The existing aircraft multimedia transmission networks, emerging technologies, and some aspects of future direction are discussed.
