Abstract
Theoretical approach to the fundamentals of write-read memory elements based on strain induction in optical materials and the basis of fotoelasticimetry is given. Manufacturing concept of the memory element with induced strain on polycarbonate and its realization is presented. We presented some earliest results in this domain. Applicability of the strain inducted memory is discussed.
