Abstract
The infrared spectra of boron trifluoride co-condensed with carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, ammonia and dimethyl ether in nitrogen and argon matrices have been recorded. The spectra have been analyzed on the basis of the formation of 1:1 complexes between the boron trifluoride and the electron donor molecules, and the wavenumber shifts of the antisymmetric stretching mode of boron trifluoride have been used as probes of the natures and the strengths of the electron donor-acceptor interactions present.
