Abstract
Currently, Stereoscopic technology has attracted attention in various fields because it provides a high sense of immersion and realism. Especially, stereoscopic technology in 3D movie theater is widely used. In 3D movie theaters, 3D glasses are needed to provide parallax images to many observers. For this reason, autostereoscopic technology is being researched. However, providing parallax images for different viewing positions, as in 3D theaters, is still a major problem today. To solve this problem, a system called “Cinema3D” has been proposed, but this system has the problem that the equipment is very complex and large. In this paper, we propose a method of creating a screen with holographic optical elements (HOEs) as pixels to reproduce light rays focused on the observation position. In our experiments, we created a very small prototype screen with HOEs as pixels to verify the principle of the proposed method. In the future, we will increase the resolution of the HOE screen to provide parallax images and increase the number of observation positions by increasing the light focusing position of the HOE screen. The effectiveness of the proposed method will be confirmed by verifying that it is possible to provide parallax images at different observation positions, as in a 3D theater.
