Abstract
An analytic model of signal strength and common-mode rejection ratio is developed for a magneto-optic differential detection channel. The model analytically maps component error probability densities into probability densities of signal and common-mode rejection ratio. This model applies to optical heads with linear and circular polarized read paths and computes assembly tolerances using simple formulas rather than using Monte-Carlo simulations.
