Abstract
The MAVIS instrument (MCAO-Assisted Visible Imager and Spectrograph), designed for visible light observations, is a significant advancement in adaptive optics technology. To rigorously test MAVIS and ensure its smooth on-sky performance, we have developed a dedicated Verification Test Bench (VTB). The VTB serves as an internal tool during the Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) phase, and is crucial in conducting essential tests related to wavefront error correction via a ground-conjugated deformable mirror. In this work, we provide brief descriptions of the foreseen tests for MAVIS that require the use of the VTB. A particular focus of the study is dedicated to the preliminary design of the VTB. We present the optomechanical implementation envisaged for it, emphasising system requirements and optical design constraints.
