Abstract
The impact of depression on a person's life is often multifaceted, and it will have a profoundly negative impact on the patient's ability to socialize, work productively, and even on family relationships. Studies have shown that the external environment and internal genetic factors play an important role in the occurrence and development of depression. The main external factors include drug abuse, family dysfunction, childhood trauma and bereavement. The main researches on internal factors include genetic vulnerability and cognitive vulnerability. When faced with life setbacks, the lower the mental capacity of people such as adolescents, the greater the psychological pressure they will bear, which will increase the risk of developing depression. Any patient can hardly be concluded to a single cause. There is emerging support for breaking-out on treatment approaches. This article provides a brief overview of conventional treatments and risk factors for depression in an effort to increase awareness of the disorder.
