Abstract
When using ultrasonic to measure the dynamic burning rate of propellant during the test of solid rocket motors, it was necessary to grasp the ultrasonic attenuation characteristics of the insulation layer. This paper used the ultrasonic continuous pulse reflection method to obtain the multiple echo data of the insulation layer by setting the appropriate gain multiple, the echo intensity of the ultrasonic wave after passing through the insulation layer of different thickness was calculated and analyzed to obtain the ultrasonic attenuation characteristic curve of the insulation layer. This method can be used to calculate the maximum thickness of the thermal insulation layer tested by ultrasonic energy and improve the accuracy of ultrasonic measurement of the burning rate of solid rocket motors.
