Abstract
Power consumption is one of the biggest operating problems facing modern smartphones. Understanding consumption is the key to optimizing it. The screen of the smartphone can be an important contributor to the overall consumption, but its power consumption is difficult to measure by itself during phone operation. We propose a means to isolate the consumption of the screen component in the phone and apply this method to study 2D/3D consumption behavior on two representative phones making use of 3D displays.
